Automatic For The People

CRAFT β€’ 1992

It’s a prequel to the 1992 “R.E.M.” acclaimed as the best rock and roll band in the ’80s. Their success in pop music came as a surprise to everyone when the previous album [Out Of Time] topped the U.S. and British charts at the same time.

Recognized for providing typical college-oriented Jangle Pop, R.E.M. has released more than 10 valuable albums during its ongoing activities. There’s a disagreement over whether we wrote the most important songs for ’80s and ’90s for ‘Radio Free Europe,’ ‘These Days,’ and ‘It’s The End Of The World As We Know It(And I Feel Fine).’ Still, Michael Stipe’s warm, dry murmur has changed several times since his debut as a single in 1981, affected by Byrds, Peter Buck’s cheerful hook, Bill Berry’s rhythm and Mike Mills’ perfect harmony.

Unlike the previous ‘fresh’ images, the black-and-white-toned cover picture has presented a theme that highlights the dark side of the human being, saying alienation, injury and death. With such a calm and contemplative atmosphere, the album also hit Billboard, bringing commercial wealth, and was hailed as the pioneer of alternative rock.

This is one of the key tracks of “Man on the Moon,” which excited listeners of track ten that was included with the movie soundtrack, and “Everybody Hurts,” a consolation song for injured souls. And even “Try Not To Breathe,” a song about death. The reason Kurt Cobain, the icon of alternative rock, was honored in his lifetime is also prevalent in the work.
